What is involved in a Chiropractic Treatment?

Chiropractic takes a natural approach to improve spinal health. Here at Body Complex our Chiropractic team can treat issues in the spine, muscles, joints and nerves. This is done by using safe techniques to restore movement to dysfunctional segments of the spine and other joints. Although the manipulation techniques are vital to your treatment we also believe in the use soft tissue and muscle techniques. This is to address the extenuating effects that come with postural stress and general wear and tear over time.

Chiropractic Testimonials

"My wife booked me an initial consultation and treatment through Groupon as I had a neck compression injury from work.
I have now had 4 sessions with Ross and I cannot recommend him highly enough! Most of the pain had gone after the first couple of sessions but there was still a bit of work to do with the muscles in my neck and back, I can honestly say that I have not had this level of pain-free movement in at least six months!
Ross always explains everything that he does so I was fully informed about what to expect from the treatments and coupled with a comprehensive range of exercises to do at home to help the healing process it has made life much more enjoyable. I have even started an exercise program with a personal trainer as Ross gave me a target to aim for to prevent any recurrence of my initial injury.
Thank you so much Ross you really have made a huge difference to me and my family"

"Have been visiting Ross for the past few weeks for chiropractic work and adjustments mixed in with a little bit of Physio work for pain with my back and hips. Since visiting him, this has since gone away and would recommend him very highly"

"Went to see Ross for a nerve issue in my neck and lower back pain. After 4 weeks, all pain has been reduced to nothing, and the exercises I've been given for physio has really helped as well.
Fantastic, very knowledgeable and helpful"

"Having used others in the past, I thought a different approach was worth a try, particularly looking at the other reviews.  Ross gave a very thorough diagnosis to identify the problem and cured it during the first visit.  The feeling of instant relief was amazing.  Highly recommend"

"Fantastic service from the chiropractor Ross Philo. I was really struggling with an injured back, he gave me the right advice and adjustments. 3 sessions later it was brand new! Would highly recommend"

"Dr Ross Philo is the chiropractor in this company. He is brilliant at his job. He's dedicated to helping people get better, and has helped me massively with my sciatica"

"Great services and friendly staff! Ross, the chiropractor, was a great help in healing a running injury. Highly recommended"

"Been to see Ross and with shoulder pain and leg injury. After a couple of sessions the treatment and advice given he solved my issues. Highly recommend him ;)"

What Does A Chiropractor Do?

What Are Chiropractors?

Chiropractic is a non-invasive form of manual therapy focusing on treating pain and dysfunction in the body. We use varying techniques to treat joints, nerves, muscles and the body as a whole with the primary aim of reducing patients pain and improving functionality.

Unlike a lot of traditional Chiropractors that focus solely on spinal manipulations and “aligning the spine” here at Body Complex our chiropractic team takes a more modern approach, keeping up with new evidence-based scientific literature that shows better patient outcomes are found when spinal manipulation is combined with exercise therapy and soft tissue work.

What should I expect in the Initial Consultation?

A thorough clinical history is taken during the initial consultation, followed by an examination and explanation of the condition. We believe that an accurate diagnosis is the most important part of the treatment process and is the foundation of a good care plan.

Once a diagnosis has been made, an explanation will be given on how treatment will proceed with patient goals and expectations at the forefront of care.

What can I Expect from Chiropractic Treatment?

Each treatment is tailored to the specific patient involving a combination of chiropractic adjustments, joint mobilisation, soft-tissue work and exercise therapy. There will also be education on the condition, in the hope that the patient can learn to self-manage to the best of their ability and learn what to avoid so pain isn’t exacerbated.

What Conditions Can Benefit From Chiropractic Treatment?

Many people can benefit from the expertise provided by chiropractors. Their natural approach makes them extremely popular and effective in treating the spine, muscles, joints, and nerve issues. By using manipulation techniques and soft tissues and muscle techniques, they can address and relieve pain points that can commonly occur with postural stress and bodily wear and tear over time.

Although not extensive, some of the common reasons people seek chiropractic care can be linked to the following:

  • Back and neck pain
  • Spinal disc problems
  • Stress and tension
  • Migraines or headaches
  • Improving mobility
  • Improving posture
  • Relieving sciatica
  • Overcoming repetitive strain injury.
  • Maintaining athletic performance
  • Hip, knee, ankle and foot issues
  • Arm, shoulder, elbow and hand issues
  • RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury)
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Osteoarthritis of the knee
  • Myofascial pain syndrome
  • Pain from pregnancy

What is Maintenance Care?

Once you are pain free and treatment goals have been reached we offer maintenance care. This would be the patient coming in once a month, or every two months to have any issues or niggles in the body that may have arisen in the time after care to be addressed, before they may have a chance to worsen.

What Are The Risk Of Visiting A Chiropractic Clinic?

Chiropractic care is becoming a more widely recognised and recommended treatment method. This is not only associated with their chiropractic care benefits but also the low-risk nature of their treatment methods.

Unlike other treatment methods, chiropractic is a non-invasive and drug-free solution. With knowledge and the ability to manipulate and massage, symptoms can resolve quickly, and with ongoing exercise and a personalised treatment plan, you can maximise the treatment results.

Whilst, you are likely to feel an immediate benefit after treatment, there is a chance that a day or so later, your muscle and joint may feel uncomfortable. This is natural as your body adjusts to the increased range of motion and passes quickly.

Despite this some people do not want to be cracked and the sound scares them or makes them uncomfortable. This is not a problem as there are other lots of treatment methods available and the practitioner can help find a solution that works for you.

How Are Chiropractic Treatments Carried Out?

At your first appointment, an expert chiropractor will complete an assessment of your symptoms to determine if the treatments they can provide are suitable and what techniques will be suitable to relieve the problem.

Many methods are used to treat the muscles and joints, and these can include:

  • Using their hands to apply pressure to the muscles, bones and joints of the spine and back to manipulate the spine
  • Using their hands to apply short, sharp, trusting motions
  • Moving your joints into varying different positions
  • Pulling and stretching your muscles.
